A Letter Addressed to Parents

To whom it may concern,
Your children will join the ESL family in which children from all over the world will get together and learn English. Their growth will be witnessed. Moreover, they will make a wonderful start to be an international citizen. English will be their second language. We have chosen a model to explore their potentials to be international elites.

In order to benefit from their progress, we hope that we could work together!
We recommend you the following:

• Under any circumstances, if your children attempt to use English,you should encourage them. 
• Spend only twenty minutes every night with your children, log on the ESL website and review what they have learned today.
• When children intend to share what they have learned with you, please give them positive feedbacks. Talk with your children about the course and motivate them to share the content with you.
• Please be a good reader for your children’s written output (mini book) and be concerned about their growth.
• If possible, learn some English songs with your children.
• Regularly communicate with teachers and know your children's performance and attitude toward learning.
• Check the school’s website regularly; put suggestions and comments in the forum of ESL parents.
• Participate in school ESL-related activities.
• Take part in the parents club.

We advice you these guidelines below:

• Do not put too much pressure on your children. For example, we should not request our children to do some hard translation, show their English ability in front of friends and communicate with foreign people in any cases.
• Do not expect your children to speak English in a short term. Within the first few weeks of learning English, some students are not able to use this language. All beginners will experience such tricky stage - the silent period. This period could last shorter or longer, depending on each individual. However, you do not need to worry about that because even if your children are "silent" for a while, he has already learned something from listening. Be patient for we will see the result eventually. Your children will be able to speak English and use this language perfectly in the future.
• Do not focus on how much your children have been taught in class, we need to pay more attention on how much progress they have made.
• Give rewards for your children’s accomplishment rather than focusing more on their mistakes for the purpose of punishing them.
